2019 Pouilly-Vinzelles 'En Paradis', Louis Latour
2019 Pouilly-Vinzelles 'En Paradis', Louis Latour
"The 2019 Louis Latour Pouilly-Vinzelles 'En Paradis' could hardly have finer provenance, coming as it does from one of the great names of Burgundy, founded in 1797 and still family-owned. This sees no oak at all and with citrus, peach and honey on the nose and almonds, herbs and grapefruit in the mouth, it's complex and gratifying and has plenty of life left in it."
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine
If the heavenly aromas of honeyed acacia, white peach and apricot wafting from a chilled glass of white burgundy float you away, or should a sumptuous palate of exotic fruit, grapefruit zest, brioche, vanilla and pineapple flavours find you in paradise or en paradis, then you should know that the 2019 Pouilly-Vinzelles from Domaine Louis Latour is now here to lead you there. Latour's gorgeously textured Pouilly-Vinzelles and taste why En Paradis gets its name.
'Paradise' is also where the great Domaine harvests fruit for this delicious cuvée: En Paradis, a south-facing, limestone-rich single vineyard dating back to Roman times that, like many in its neighbouring Pouilly-Fuissé, yields fruit of exceptional richness and elegance. A richness and elegance driven by power and bracing minerality.
As Latours En Paradis is unoaked, matured for 8 to 10 months in stainless steel vats, it shows a remarkable purity of fruit which, through extended lees aging, offers an opulent texture and complexity of flavour that finishes dry, with great precision, and a wee zing of citrus. More simply put, this is what the very best white Burgundies from the Mâconnais should taste like. (And a taste that will cost you twice the amount in the Côte de Beaune.)
Which is why we strongly recommend you invest in a case today. Pull the cork on Latours gorgeously textured Pouilly-Vinzelles and taste why En Paradis gets its name.
