We believe that Tessellae is the best value rosé in South of France. It is made with a brilliant blend of grenache and syrah that is light and fresh in style, but with an incredible depth of fruit character delivering even better flavours.
Jean-Marc Lafage is one of the superstar-producers of the Roussillon and thanks to our close relationship, we are able to offer Tessellae rosé exclusively to Mr.Wheeler customers.
The wines from Domaine Lafage are famous for using old vines and low yields. In other words, it takes an entire vine to produce one bottle of wine to deliver this level of concentration and depth of flavour.
Tasting notes:
This lovely rosé has pronounced notes of raspberry, cherry and red apple fruit, with a hint of Mediterranean herbs. It is little warmer and more fruit-forward than a Provençal rosé, but with a brisk freshness to lift the ripe peach and wild strawberry fruit. Wonderful value.
Domaine Lafage is one of the Roussillon’s star estates, and Jean-Marc’s wines have been favourites of ours for some years.
An awardwinning family estate since 1798, Lafage is based in Perpignan, and makes a wide range of exceptionally crafted wines, from vineyards either side of the Pyrenees. His wines under the Tessellae label hail from the Côtes Catalanes region, and offer exceptional value – they are undoubtedly one of our most exciting recent finds.

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
