2018 Château Meaume 'Reserve du Château', Bordeaux Superieur
Bordeaux 2018 was a particularly good vintage for merlot - especially at Château Méaume where their 'Réserve du Château' is sourced from their oldest vines. Merlot vines each at an average age of 50+ years, whose low yields make for a wonderfully rich, concentrated wine. Tasting the 2018 we were deliciously reminded of just how rich, how concentrated, and dazzled by how beautifully the vintage is now drinking. Thrilled by the power and depth that assures it at least another ten years of glorious cellaring.

I don’t think you can go wrong with Chateau Méaume. Whether it be the standard product, the Anniversary vintage released this year, or this Reserve offering. The chateau makes no pretensions about being a ‘fine’ wine but it certainly secures being a good and good value wine. I have been drinking Méaume for 3 years regularly now and have not been disappointed. This Reserve needs decanting to get the full benefit. Wheelers provided the wine at a competitive price and delivered the wine quickly and securely.
This wine is outstanding value for money.
