Bordeaux's Finest Gift Box
A three bottle selection of the finest wines from Bordeaux presented in a wooden gift box.
The Wines:
2005 Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Cru Classé Pauillac
"This estate's finest wine of the decade is the 2005 Grand-Puy-Lacoste, a fleshy, sumptuous wine evocative of cassis, sweet red berries and cigar box, framed by a touch of creamy new oak that integrates with opening. Medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with an enveloping core of fruit, rich tannins and a seamless but authoritative profile, it concludes with a long, resonant finish. Just entering early maturity, it will continue to develop for several decades. Drink 2020-2050"
96pts, Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate
2019 Carillon d'Angélus, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru
"Composed of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2019 Le Carillon d'Angélus is aging in French oak barrels, 60% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it springs from the glass with floral notes of lavender and red roses with a baking spice undercurrent and a core of redcurrant jelly, blackberry pie, black raspberries and cracked black pepper. Medium-bodied, the palate is wonderfully elegant and refreshing with loads of mineral-laced black fruit layers and a firm, fine-grained frame, finishing with great energy and bags of perfume."
91-93pts, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, robertparker.com
2017 Château Gazin, Pomerol
"Deep garnet-purple in colour, the 2017 Gazin has a beautifully fragrant nose of potpourri, chocolate-covered cherries and spiced mulberries with a core of warm plums and cherry cordial plus a waft of wild blueberries. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a firm frame of ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and earthy."
93pts. Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate.
