Why This Became Our New House Red
Head Buyer Ben Godfrey had a very clear brief this spring: to find a delicious, great-value red with plenty of flavour, ripe bramble fruit, warmth and spice, but enough freshness to keep you coming back for another glass.
After tasting dozens of wines, we found what we were looking for in Corbières. The 2023 Pech des Cades has all the generous southern French fruit we wanted, balanced by a lovely fresh texture, silky tannins and plenty of character. At under £12 per bottle, it's exactly the sort of wine we like to have close at hand – easy to enjoy, wonderfully versatile and exceptionally good value.
Tasting Note
Ripe, Generous and Wonderfully Drinkable
Vibrant red and dark berry fruit, with plenty of ripe bramble character, warmth and spice. Grenache brings roundness and warm red fruit, Syrah adds darker berries and spice, while Carignan provides freshness and structure. Silky tannins and a luscious, fresh texture lead into a long, elegant finish.
