Bachey Legros is one of the most consistently reliable estates in Santenay – one of Burgundy’s lesser-known, hence better-value appellations. Their 2022 1er Cru is a fine expression of pinot with its pure, luscious red fruit flavours and ripe, voluptuous texture.

If you want quality and value this is the wine for you. It is a premier grand cru and is well deserving of that accolade. Full in the mouth with a lingering aftertaste, this wine can be drunk now but will be just a delicious for many years to come. For less than £40, you can't get a better deal anywhere. It should be an unquestioning reorderer.
