Jonathan Ray's Verdict
"As oil scales level, so the 2021 Saint-Julien, from one of the commune’s best-known estates, improves with each passing year. It’s in sublime form at the moment, being taut, correct, slightly herbaceous, with the familiar cedarwood, graphite and lots of fresh fruit."
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine
Classical Saint-Julien with the Benefit of Maturity
There is considerable pleasure to be found in a well-made Saint-Julien as it begins to mature. This declassified 2021 comes from one of the appellation's most respected estates and is developing just as we would hope, retaining its freshness and structure while gaining greater complexity and harmony.
Dark berry fruit is accompanied by the familiar cedarwood, graphite and gently herbal notes of traditional Médoc claret. Elegant, finely structured and distinctly savoury, it is already drinking very well and should continue to develop over the next few years. A rewarding choice for those who appreciate Bordeaux with a more classical character.
