2010 Château Talbot, Cru Classé St-Julien
Not only from what many professional critics favour as appellation of the Haut-Médoc's most elegant, ethereal wines, but also from one of its indisputably most acclaimed châteaux. As for the 2010 vintage, it's also firmly set among their stars.
"Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Talbot opens with maturing scents of fruitcake, Chinese five spice and cigar box plus hints of dried mint, pencil lead and chargrill. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is pleasantly spicy, with a light grip of chewy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing savory." Drink 2020-2033. 91 pts., Lisa Perrotti-Brown, robertparker.com. (Tasted 20/03/2020)
"It has a very appealing bouquet with blackberry, wild hedgerow, crushed strawberry, cedar and graphite aromas that seem more intense thon previous bottles. The palate feels rounded and supple with layers of tobacco and 5-spice infused black fruit, fanning out to a voluminous and quite concentrated finish. This is far better than I expected and it should be cellared for another five or six years. Tasted at the centenary Château Talbot vertical at the property." 93 pts., Neal Martin, vinous.com (Tasted 18/12/2018)
