2010 Brunello di Montalcino 'Assunto', Bellaria
The Bellaria Estate was purchased in 1963 by Assunto Pieri and Bruna Tempori and lies in the heart of the Montalcino. Over the past 60 years the family have developed the vineyards into some of the finest in the region and it still remains family owned to this day.
The estate produces a number of wines under DOC and DOCG classifications but the gem of the estate has to be their Brunello di Montalcino and in 2004 the 'Assunto' range was produced in honour of the estates founder. Fruit for their Assunto wines is sourced exclusively from a small area of vineyard that was planted by Assunto himself over 40 years ago.
"Profound aromas of blueberry, sweet tobacco, wet earth, cedar and oyster shell follow through to full body with silky tannins and a dusty finish. A savoury, beautiful wine with lots of character and depth" 97pts James Suckling
"Rated as one of the top all-time vintages in Montalcino..." Decanter
