2007 Château Les Tours Seguy, Côtes de Bourg
Our Find of the Year?
Earlier this year, our senior wine buyer Ben Godfrey was tasting his way through a line-up of Bordeaux reds when an unassuming bottle of 2007 Château Les Tours Seguy quietly caught our attention.
Approaching twenty years of age, this wasn't a wine we'd expected to find at such a modest price. One taste was enough to stop us in our tracks. Here was a wonderfully mature claret, showing all the complexity and character that only time can bring, yet still full of life and remarkably fresh.
Our immediate reaction was simple: "If this is under £20, we should buy every bottle we can."
We did.
Finding a mature Bordeaux with this level of depth, complexity and drinking pleasure for under £16 per bottle is becoming increasingly rare. Whether it's our find of the year is for you to decide, but it's certainly one of the most exciting wines we've tasted in 2025.

Wow, what a hidden gem Cotes de Bourg is. This (2007) is absolutely fabulous (good enough to get me to leave a rare review which is saying something!). Garnet in colour, black cherries and leather and improving all the time in the glass as more and more layers appear - and all at a truly excellent price. I gave 4 stars - but only to leave a little room for all the really great wines out there as really, at its level, this was a full five star purchase all round. Luckily I bought 12 bottles. I now wish I had >doubled that purchase, but very much enjoying what I've got! Great!
