A fragrant, finely poised nose of ripe cassis, blackberry and dark berry coulis, layered with liquorice, subtle woodsmoke and sweet spice. The palate is generous and supple, with ripe blackcurrant and plum lifted by bright acidity from cooler nights. Fine-grained, integrated tannins add structure and length, delivering a harmonious, elegant Vieilles Vignes of warmth, freshness and balance.
The 2023 season at La Jasse brought shifting conditions including a prolonged dry spell yet the estates sustainable, vineyard-first approach ensured the vines remained healthy and balanced. Careful water management and the favourable rhythm of warm days followed by cooler nights encouraged slow, even ripening ideal for building structure, concentration and freshness.
The resulting 2023 Vieilles Vignes is deliciously expressive. Smaller, intensely flavoured berries have delivered impressive richness and purity of dark fruit, while the cooler evenings of late summer lend the wine a vibrant lift. Ripe, supple tannins provide structure without weight, and the overall balance makes the wine both enticingly drinkable now and full of promise for graceful ageing. A vintage defined by resilience and precision and a Vieilles Vignes that captures both with charm, depth and undeniable quality.
