ABOUT THIS WINE

"Les Genièvres is typically classy. Mallory Talmard (daughter of fabled Paul), husband Benjamin and son Marcomake such tasty wines and at such breezy prices. The Genièvres vineyard of Lugny is one of the best in all the Mâconnais and this is a beauty, full of fresh stone fruit, honeyed apples and citrus. A lovely wine."

When we visited the Talmard family in France last year, they unveiled an exciting new addition to their range: their brand new Mâcon-Lugny Les Genièvres'. It's a cuvée that is a nudge fuller, riper and rounder than the Uchizy - a more expressive, fruit-forward style perhaps, with a fine,luscious, creamy texture on the palate. You might be familiar with Mâcon-Lugny from other, larger, producers but Talmards is, to our mind, a massive step-up. This is a hugely impressive Burgundy, and a very fine expression of chardonnay indeed.

The Talmards are without doubt one of the best family estates in the Mâconnais, and their Mâcon-Uchizy has become one of our most popular wines from the region.

Tasting Note

Has a very alluring bright golden sheen upon pouring. On the nose, pronounced and expressive with aromas continuously expanding. Perfumed at first with spring blossom notes - then a pronounced ripe apple, pear and apricot character, followed by roasted hazelnuts, a hint of toastiness and subtle spice.
