Jonathan Ray's Verdict
"From a single vineyard on a bend of the River Ebro, the 2021 CVNE Contino Reserva is a complete delight. I was at the estate founded by the Compañia Vinicola del Norte de España and the Pérez Villata family more than 50 years ago in April and fell in love all over again with its wines, helped in no small part by a shirt-popping, magnum-fuelled lunch in the château. We drank plenty of this, of course, a Tempranillo blend, seasoned with Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha, and I can vouch for how well it goes with slow-roasted garlic and rosemary-studded leg and confit shoulder of lamb."

A Single-Vineyard Rioja with Real Pedigree
Contino Reserva comes from a single vineyard on a bend of the River Ebro, an estate established by CVNE and the Pérez Villata family more than 50 years ago.
The 2021 brings together Tempranillo with Mazuelo, Graciano and Garnacha, a classic Rioja combination from an estate Jonathan Ray clearly holds in high regard. His recommendation comes fresh from a visit to Contino itself and at £23.50 in The Spectator offer, this is a particularly tempting opportunity to discover it.
