2023 Pinot Blanc, Dopff & Irion 'Cuvée René Dopff'
"The 2023 Pinot Blanc 'Cuvée René Dopff' is about as spot-on in this price bracket as it's possible to be. Part of D&I's entry level range, its handpicked, pressed gently and then aged on fine lees for four months. It's fresh, lightly honeyed, slightly creamy, with hints of almonds and citrus. A great aperitif, it's astonishing value."
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine (Tasted May 2025)
At this price it's a must have in the cellar - it's weightier and more mouth-filling than a Chablis or sauvignon blanc. Pinot blanc is often characterised by a lightly honeyed, baked apple character, in tandem with an almost earthy, exotic spiciness, which makes it very food friendly. Great with Asian cuisine and pork dishes.
