Mr Wheeler is a family wine specialist, based on the Essex-Suffolk border, and has been since 1883. Our Chairman is Johnny Wheeler, the fourth generation in the business. We pride ourselves on an unparalleled range, sourced and shipped direct from interesting independent producers worldwide. Our relationships with many growers go back decades which enables us to pick the best of their wines for you.
Mr Wheeler is also a founder member of Merchant Vintners, a buying group comprised of twenty of the UK’s biggest independent wine merchants. This allows us to buy high volume and branded wines as competitively as any supplier.
We also have a specialist Fine Wine division which can source all your more premium needs quickly, cost effectively and professionally.
Great people
Simon Gotelee worked in wineries in France, California and Australia before spending thirty varied years in the wine trade as a marketing manager and salesman for Penfold’s, Taylor’s Port and Veuve Clicquot, among others. He came back home to Essex in 2013 to run Mr Wheeler’s hotel & restaurant sales division.
Rachel Broderick moved from her home town of Colchester to Noosa on the Sunshine Coast of Australia in 2004 with her family where they purchased and ran a very successful restaurant ‘Bistro on Thomas’. Upon selling the restaurant in 2014 she moved back to Colchester where she spent time in the real estate industry before changing course and following her passion of the wine trade by joining Mr Wheeler.
Johnny Wheeler is our Executive Chairman and has worked in wine since an early age, including running the composite wholesaling side of the family business for some years. He has also completed seasons as a winemaker in New Zealand and is passionate about supplying fantastic and interesting wines, and ensuring that the family approach to our business delivers fantastic service across all aspects.
Robin James is Head of Customer Experience and will want to make sure that our service to you is smooth and easy for you. And he’ll want to sort out any issues or challenges which may arise.
Great transport and delivery service
Our warehouse team and Mr Wheeler vehicles do much more than just deliver your order; they are part of our excellent customer service. We use primarily our own delivery vans and drivers, who will unload your goods with care according to your needs at a time to suit you Our minimum order requirement is just 12 bottles locally.
Customers can order by email or phone. We deliver six days a week.
Reminder phone calls can be arranged, guaranteeing you and your team never forget to place an order.
