ABOUT THIS WINE
Read Critic Reviews
  • A superb-value Loire Sauvignon offering classic Sancerre style for less
  • Produced by Patrick Vauvy, one of our longest-standing Loire growers
  • Crisp, refreshing and wonderfully versatile with seafood, salads and goats' cheese

Why it's one of our favourites
Some wines remain in our range because they consistently offer exceptional value, and this Sauvignon de Touraine is one of them. We've worked with Patrick Vauvy and Domaine Bellevue for many years, recommending this wine time and again to customers looking for the freshness and elegance of Loire Sauvignon Blanc without the price tag of neighbouring Sancerre or Pouilly-Fumé. Bright, vibrant and effortlessly drinkable, the latest vintage once again delivers everything we look for – purity of fruit, lively citrus freshness and outstanding value in every bottle.

From Ben Godfrey
"I've been buying Domaine Bellevue's Sauvignon de Touraine for as long as I can remember. As Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé have become increasingly expensive, this remains one of the best-value Sauvignon Blancs in the Loire. Vintage after vintage, Patrick Vauvy produces a wine with freshness, elegance and remarkable consistency."

Fresh and expressive, with aromas of citrus, gooseberry and tropical fruit. The palate is crisp and lively, combining ripe fruit with mouth-watering acidity and a subtle mineral edge, leading to a clean, refreshing finish.

What do the critics think?
“Sauvignon de Touraine, Domaine Bellevue, a lemon-fresh, really rather tropical Sauvignon Blanc produced but a stones throw from the dreamiest of all Loire Valley châteaux: Chenonceau. Patrick Vauvy is the fourth generation of his family to make wine in Noyers-sur-Cher and his wines are noted for their elegance and exuberance. If the mineral-rich, south-facing vineyards were a few hundred metres further south-east, it would be classified as Sancerre and a heck of a lot pricier.”
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
“Terrific Touraine Sauvignon, all smoky, minerally, greengage fruit and glorious greenery-yallery peashoot pizzazz that makes it the sort of summery thirst-quencher everyone needs in their wine rack, at an infinitely more appetising price than Sancerre.”
Jane MacQuitty, The Times

Purchased after seeing this as Wine of the Week. Would not be my usual choice of grape but very pleased I bought a bottle and tried it. Much smoother and creamier than other Sauvignon I’ve had in the past and plenty of body. A really nice everyday white and I’d definitely repurchase.

Hannah

Beautifully balanced. Perfect for those of us who are bored of overly fragrant and light Sav Blanc. Has plenty of body and is smooth on the palate yet retains the fresh nose of a Sav Blanc. (previous vintage)

Peter C

Delicious. This is a fleshy wine with a delicious taste of tropical fruit and greengage. Smoother than the more acidic New World wines. (previous vintage)

Peter Devlin

My wife loves Sauvignon and Im wary of NZ versions which often seem to have too much sugar for me so this is a great easy, every day, drinking wine that suits both of us. I'll keep buying it when its in stock. (previous vintage)
