2024 Sauvignon de Touraine, Domaine Bellevue
After retasting Domaine Bellevue's 2024 Sauvignon Touraine at a Loire-focused event recently, I was once again bowled over by how superior it was alongside the dozen or so others showing on the day. As it is with every vintage. And I mean superior in pristine, zippy, citrus freshness and zest; in exhilarating aromas of freshly cut grass and sun-drenched stone fruit. Once again, winemaker Patrick Vauvy's creation is streets ahead of anything in its neighbourhood.
Its why Ive been buying it for as long as I can remember. Especially given what continued price increases we see in the Loire's more prestigious appellations (e.g. Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé). As such, it makes Sauvignon de Touraine a fabulous-value alternative appellation. Above all, Domaine de Bellevue's expression of it. Its where you'll find all the delicacy, elegance and drinking pleasure the more famous regions offer, but at a far pocket-friendlier price.

Beautifully balanced. Perfect for those of us who are bored of overly fragrant and light Sav Blanc. Has plenty of body and is smooth on the palate yet retains the fresh nose of a Sav Blanc. (previous vintage)
Delicious. This is a fleshy wine with a delicious taste of tropical fruit and greengage. Smoother than the more acidic New World wines. (previous vintage)
My wife loves Sauvignon and Im wary of NZ versions which often seem to have too much sugar for me so this is a great easy, every day, drinking wine that suits both of us. I'll keep buying it when its in stock. (previous vintage)
