2022 Mâcon Uchizy, Domaine Talmard
When a bottle of Burgundian chardonnay for £17.50 is this delicious, you take it. Which is why last year, our customers took 8,000's worth of Domaine Talmard's 2022 Mâcon-Uchizy. Frankly we can't think of a better-value white burgundy. Nor of news better than of our final parcel of the brilliant 2022 vintage landing in our warehouse, just in time for Easter.
But why so delicious? Because it's from one of the best spots in the Mâconnais - Uchizy. Such that this village eventually became a village-specific appellation, where the Benjamin and Mallory Talmard estate rank among its most highly regarded. Here, they produce a beautifully pure, unoaked style of chardonnay, using stainless steel tanks to preserve delicate aromatics and flavours in a sumptuous white burgundy that is perfect for any occasion.
Tasting notes:
Beautifully weighted; balanced, fruitforward in style, deliciously moreish. Slow fermentation in stainless steel tanks has retained a purity of fruit, where extra time on lees imbues a greater depth of flavour and delicate texture in the palate. Unoaked for a of pronounced citrus, melon and peach, with a backdrop of delicate tropical fruit. The palate is fresh and zesty with soft, fleshy white stone fruit, citrus and melon, leading to a delicately textured, lengthy finish.
just up my street.......unoaked, fresh and flinty chardonnay
