2023 Apple Valley Riesling, Greenhough, Nelson
A pale, silvery sheen in the glasses oozes with a sense of freshness and purity, with a swish releasing aromas of lime citrus, orange blossom, lychee and pear.
The palate is racy and elegant; citrus fruit initially with subtle peachy notes building before a refreshing mineral zip blasts across the palate. A few moments later and the rich, sweetness of the fruit emerges with an almost creamy mouth-feal that hangs long on the gently off-dry finish.
Spicy Asian cuisine is an obvious match for such a wine, but barbecued white meats, anything with a little oiliness; dressed salads, charcuterie and perhaps even soft cheeses would be brilliant along side this vibrant, off-dry zingy white.
Or simply put food matching to one side and enjoy this as a lovely unaccompanied glass, because with its fresh, zippy elegant charm, exotic fruit and pleasing 9.5%ABV it makes for a perfect summer aperitif.

Absolutely delicious! For me, redolent of the characteristic flavours of a good Riesling, that linger to be savoured; but with only a slightly excessive sweetness.
Light and refreshing with a citrus zing. Worked very well with our fish meal. It would definitely make a lovely lunch time summer drink.
Bit too fruity and sweet for my palate. Would be good for a summer's evening
