ABOUT THIS WINE
Our latest shipment from our friends at Penedo Borges in Mendoza has arrived in our cellars, and includes a number of delicious new wines which we'll tell you about over the coming weeks. First on our list is their sumptuous, highly drinkable malbec - resplendent in its smart new livery - now called 'Cepas' this is a definite cut above most malbecs around, and hails from a specific 48-hectare vineyard terroir - 'Alto Agrelo'.
Malbec is Argentina's signature grape, and very much one of the world's favourite reds. Penedo Borges's Cepas is a great illustration of why - with its freshness, vibrant fruit and luscious texture.
Tasting Note
Kicks off with expressive, minty blackberry fruit on the nose with notes of roasted coffee and perhaps a sizzling, smoky barbecue. Strikingly fresh and pure for a Malbec, with warm, sweetish bramble fruit, savoury spice and soft ripe tannins. Really characterful and well-balanced..
