GS | 2017 Sauvignon Blanc, Cloudy Bay, Marlborough
What was on the face of it a tricky vintage, has resulted in a superbly concentrated and balanced wine from New Zealand's most iconic estate.
The nose offers green pepper, gooseberry and mandarin, there's a delicate mineral note in the background and a hints of sea air. The palate is unctuous, greater texture and mouth feel than the 2016 offering, with tropical stone fruit, freshening citrus and a slatey minearality on the impressively lengthy finish.
So much excitement surrounds the release of the latest vintage that it is often enjoyed a little too early, whilst relatively closed, my advice would be to pop this away for a few months to allow further development of these complex flavours.
Good weight, concentration of fruit and fresh balanced acidity make this a keeper
