2019 Château Malartic-Lagravière, Cru Classé Pessac-Léognan
A château making great strides in recent years, and in general, one fine advertisement for the appellation. Here, deep purple in colour, with ripe, black cherry and spicy oak flavours. Showy, luscious and expressive, whilst also refined, poised and beautifully balanced.
"The 2019 Malartic Lagravière presents a refined nose of blackberry, raspberry, cedar and light estuarine aromas, very well defined and focused. The palate is framed by fine-grained tannins, and the pure blackberry and raspberry notes are laced with blood orange. Maybe just a little more granular in texture than before, but still wonderfully balanced, with great length and nobility. This will age with style. A sophisticated Pessac-Léognan with a lot of potential."

"Aromas of raspberries, blackcurrants, charcoal and forest floor preface the 2019 Malartic Lagravière, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming wine that's lively and elegant, built around bright acids and fine, powdery tannins. This has turned out nicely in bottle and shows good potential for improvement in the cellar."
