2022 Pouilly-Fumé, Domaine Des Fines Caillottes, Jean Pabiot et Fils
Loire sauvignons compliment fish and seafood dishes brilliantly, offering a generally fresher, more elegant and dare I say slightly smokier character than the popular sauvignons from the likes of New Zealand. The fish is not overpowered but more elevated and enhanced in flavour while the minerally citrusy zing of the wine lingers long after the first sip. If you've never tried Pabiot's Pouilly-Fumé before you're in for a real treat.

Tasting note:
Classic grassy aromas with a definite hint of citrus on the nose and then on the palate there is a crisp mineral character and green fruit on the finish. There is a perfect balance of ripe, zesty fruit, and characteristic minerality. Excellent.
Critic's review:
"A zesty, citrusy style with ripe orchard fruit flavors. The 2020 Pouilly-Fumé fills the mouth with a gentle embrace and offers a fine chalky texture on the medium-length finish. Fruit-forward, this is already drinking well and will be appealing in youth." Drinking window: 2022-2025. Rebecca Gibb MW, vinous.com (tasted August 2021 - previous vintage)
Good citrus bouquet with hint of apple. First taste shows high acidity and lemon with some apple. Aeration for 30 minutes tempers the acidity and enhances apple with soft peach that carries through to a long finish. Although I am disappointed that gunsmoke/flint is not present there is some minerality.
A crisp elegant sauvignon blanc very well made wine lovely, perfect for outdoor drinking. Efficient speedy delivery as well.
