If you were lucky enough to attend our portfolio tasting at the City of London Club last week, then you might have been lucky enough to taste what is an especially stunning Caiarossa 'Pergolaia' 2014 Rosso IGT. Stunning in what evolution it has since undergone in bottle, that is.
How it's now showing! Which explains why so many seasoned Pergolaia enthusiasts at the event remarked on how significant the leap from the 2003 and 2005 vintages to the 2014. However, there could be no denying that, two years from its introduction, the 2014 vintage of this mini ‘Super Tuscan’ red delivers wonderful complexity, with layer upon layer of sensual flavors. In short, it offers serious drinking pleasure.
This pleasure shines with all the hallmarks of a truly mature fine wine: a fading brick-red rim, a complex nose of dried fruit, nuts, and spice, followed by secondary aromas of leather, wood, and polish.
