2020 'La Belle de Mai', Saint Péray, Jean-Luc Colombo
Upon pouring from the bottle you are greeted with a beautifully pure, seductive golden hue, immediately giving you the sense that this is quite a serious glass of white, that's before you've even given it a taste.
The nose is a delight, with aromas of apricot, baked apple, pastry and citrus competing for your attention, with a faint toastiness in the background.
The palate is full-bodied and plush, with dried apricot, pear and pastry notes, with a delicate, creamy texture as a result of extended aging on the lees. The perfectly dry, weighty finish hangs on the palate for an impressive length of time.
The balance of texture, depth of flavour and elegance on the tastebuds is reminiscent of fine, white burgundy, the twist is the slightly more exotic fruit profile. Just delicious.
Weighty enough to shine alongside a vast array of cuisine, but having just enjoyed the best part of a glass sat in the sun, I can certainly attest to its suitability as a wine to enjoy on its own.

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
Inevitably there will be the occasional breakage upon transit. If your wine doesn’t arrive in perfect condition, please contact our sales team on 01206 713560 or [email protected] and we will be very happy to arrange a suitable solution or straight replacement.
