Bartolomé

For many decades, and even through tough periods such as the 70s, the Bartolomé Vernet family steadfastly and lovingly farmed their “Trossos” (plots of land), “Mas de Caldera”(1.5 ha of 100 year old vines), “El Grinyo” (2 ha of 110 year old vines) and “Els Molins”(3.5 ha of 40+ year old vines) and produced excellent quality fruit from Garnacha and Samso (Carineña) varieties.

In 1997 they were able to go one step better, and started bottling their own fruit rather than sell it in bulk. Since then Josep Bartolomé and his son-in-law, Antonio Rodriguez have further raised the quality of the wines at this tiny (less than 10,000 bottles produced yearly) estate. The combination of very old vines and the exemplary attention to details and dedication of the family combine to produce truly impressive wines.
