" From the sun-drenched Languedoc comes an interesting and great-value alternative to Sauvignon: the Racine Picpoul de Pinet. Gently salty and with a delicious tail of tropical fruit, it will go equally well with fresh oysters, a platter of creamy cheeses or roast chicken."
MoneyWeek, April 2024
"The 2022 Racine Picpoul de Pinet is the successor to previous vintages we've offered and is as satisfying as ever. Fresh, lively and gently honeyed on the nose, it's crisp, clean and fruity in the mouth, teasingly soft on the tongue and with just a hint of citrus sweetness before finishing perfectly dry."
Jonathan Ray, The Spectator
Bruno Lafon and François Chamboissier's Picpoul de Pinet is made around the village of Pinet with vineyards influenced by the breeze of the Mediterranean sea. It delivers exactly what you want in a dry white, lashings of fresh acidity, soft ripe citrussy flavour and enough body to compliment most summer fayre, in particular fish and seafood dishes for which it first became famous.
Tasting note:
Utterly classic, regional French white: dry, with lashings of fresh acidity, soft ripe citrussy flavour and enough body to complement all manner of cuisine. Fish and seafood dishes especially the classic pairing by which this varietal has become so popular
Who'd have thought an obscure Languedoc wine would achieve the level of popularity it has. This is a decent example with everyday drinking in mind and perfectly capable of accompanying the right kind of food.
