2019 Road Block Chardonnay, Greenhough, Nelson
Having focussed mainly on Greenhough's aromatic varietals in the past, we were hugely impressed with Andrew's chardonnay when tasted recently.A bright, lemon-scented chardonnay with a fresh, apricot ripeness. 10 months in French oak barrels adds a touch of spice, and a creamy, biscuit character to the warm, luscious orchard fruits. The finish is pleasing with tangy citrus freshness. Delicious with seafood.
Critic reviews:
"I've become a big fan of the impressive Greenhough estate in Nelson and urge everyone to sample its wares. The Road Block chardonnay is a fine example - it has well-developed fruity aromas yet remains refreshingly dry on the palate, finishing with nutty, creamy intensity."

"Tangy, Chablis-like chardonnay with oyster-shell, green apple, lime juice and subtle spicy oak flavours. A fruit-forward wine, with a delicious thread of mouth tingling acidity. Appealing purity and a silken texture. Good value at the price."
