Bordeaux Red Wine
As the greatest fine wine-producing region on earth, Bordeaux red wine is synonymous with all that is prestigious in vinicultural history and practice. It is a district sub-divided by the grand riverbanks that define the Gironde estuary (the Left and Right Banks) whose traditions are firmly in blended cuvées of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and other secondary varietals such as cabernet franc, petit verdot and malbec. Bordeaux red wine is usually medium to full-bodied with aromas of plum, blackcurrant, sweet spice and an overall earthiness. On the palate, a mineral fruitiness, freshness and acidity, typically followed by robust tannins which lend themselves to the wine's ability to age for years, sometimes decades.
