2020 Beaune 1er Cru Clos du Roi Rouge, Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard

From the north of the village where there tends to be a better fruit definition, and a shade less tannin. This is very pretty without being too aggressive – very nice polish to it, really quite charming with purity and luscious black fruit.

About the producer:
One of Savigny’s oldest Domaines (1529) and where Jean-Jacques has been the sole proprietor since 1998. For JJ, the best wines are made in the vineyard, and so he focuses all effort on optimising the health and level of fruit quality his vineyards achieve. It is effort reflected in classic pinots that are delightfully supple and elegant.
