2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Domaine Philippe Livera
Dark blackberry and black cherry fruit abound in this cuvée from old vines close to Gevrey-Chambertin. Pronounced acidity, with secondary flavours of dark chocolate and spice. Broad and rich with a satisfying, robust, meaty texture. Will certainly improve with age, but very easy to enjoy now.
About the producer, Domaine Philippe Livera:
Domaine Livera is widely considered the 'next Burgundian star' tellingly by both their consumers and winemaking contemporaries. Son Damien has in 13 years taken the wines to a different level altogether, whose style is one of purity, precision of fruit and impressive depth, and one quite reminiscent of the wines produced by Arnaud Mortet (close friend and advisor). An address that is very much one to watch.
