2021 Chateau Darzac, Entre-deux-Mers
We found this delicious white through a good contact in Bordeaux at the end of 2020, and it came out on top in our blind tasting of white Bordeaux under £20, so we shipped our first order straight away.
Our first shipment was the 2019 and we are now awaiting the new 2021 vintage from this fine Château. It is predominantly sauvignon, with a decent proportion of semillon, and a dash of muscadelle adding richness, weight and texture. Has the zippy citrus freshness we look for in a good sauvignon, but so much more character than most. Perfect for the current summer heatwave.
Château Darzac has been a wine estate for around 200 years - the story goes that the first vines were paid for with a dowry the Barthe family received from Napoloeon Bonaparte - one of their ancestors having got married on the same day as him. History aside, this is a smart, flavourful wine - so moreish, and very food-friendly.
Tasting note:
One of the best whites we've tasted recently - sauvignon blanc here, but also semillon and muscadelle, which add richness, depth and texture to the verdant freshness. Crisp and fragrant, with ripe pear and green apple as well as notes of anise and fresh-cut grass.

You won’t need to come into contact with our couriers, as they will deliver your selection to an agreed safe place, without requesting a signature. Please add your delivery instructions at the checkout when placing your order.
Our specialist in-house fulfilment team pick, pack and dispatch wines to all UK addresses. Our service is fast efficient and reliable.

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
