2018 Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine Sur Lie, Château de La Chesnaie
This is Muscadet with a difference though and unlike almost any other you will taste it has in spades the crisp zingy citrus tang we look for from this region, as well as the stony, seaspray freshness but also an extra level of bright fruit, mineral richness and layers of flavour we dont often find in a Muscadet. There is also an almost creamy, honeyed texture on the palate the result of extended ageing on the wines lees (flavour-enhancing sediment), and some very hands-on and careful winemaking.
Hailing from the famous house of Chereau-Carré, who we have known for many years, and from a specific plateau of older vines close to the Sèvre and Maine rivers where the schist soil is particularly well suited to the Muscadet grape.
This is one of the best examples around, and a simply great value, shimmering drinking white. Of course you dont have to just drink it with fish its delicious also with white meat dishes and summer salads. In fact we had finished our first glass long before the food arrived so its obviously very drinkable on its own.

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
