Lafite's masterly embrace of cabernet sauvignon and the Catena family's three generations of malbec experience combine to stunning effect, delivering a flagship release which showcases the structure and finesse of Classed Growth Bordeaux allied to the power and richness of the finest Argentinean malbec. Bodegas Caro has set the bar very high as one of Argentina's most outstanding and critically acclaimed producers, yet it offers remarkable pedigree for its price.
This, the 2017 vintage, is one of the estates finest renditions to date. Wonderful concentration, perfectly judged elegance and scintillating freshness hint at the high-altitude nature of Caro's vineyards in Mendoza's famed Uco Valley. The cuvee's long élevage in largely new oak frames a captivating tannic framework and length.
The 2017 has been lauded by the critics, with James Suckling awarding a score of 97 points and Tim Atkin MW 96 points. An impressive Old-World interpretation of this impressive New-World terroir, Bodegas Caro should not be missed.

"The drier, hotter year makes this a big, plusher, denser red than the 2016, but this is still a brilliant wine in its own, different way. Entirely aged in new French wood, it combines Malbec and 26% Cabernet Sauvignon to brilliant effect. Scented, polished and refined, with granular tannins, floral top notes and intense blackcurrant and black cherry fruit. A cuvée that will reward patience."

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
