2014 Vieilles Vignes Rouge, Domaine de la Jasse, Languedoc
The Vieilles Vignes does contain a small proportion of merlot, but cabernet is very much the senior partner here, and is very evident on the nose.
Notes of cedar and spice at first, then the ripe, luscious cassis fruit shines through. At this youthful stage the oak is muted, but with a few minutes in the glasses, more complex aromas emerge - roasted coffee, dark chocolate and spice. There is a real warmth to this 2014 with a sweetish coulis character to the profound plum and blackberry fruit. Robust, rich and chewy, with good structure and an alluring, exotic finish.
Load up! This vintage is definitely a 'keeper' - delicious now, but drink to 2025.

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
Inevitably there will be the occasional breakage upon transit. If your wine doesn’t arrive in perfect condition, please contact our sales team on 01206 713560 or [email protected] and we will be very happy to arrange a suitable solution or straight replacement.
