2017 Promis, Ca'Marcanda, Gaja, Toscana (magnum)
This producer has consistently been praised by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and the two most recent reviews of the 2015 and 2016 vintages received 91 and 93 points respectively putting them firmly in the 'outstanding' category. 2017 is classed as an 'outstanding' vintage for the region producing 'early maturing accessible wines'.
The Gaja winery which was founded in 1859 remains family owned to this day. The name is synonymous with the production of many fine Italian wines. Their 'Promis' from the dark 'brun' soils of the Ca'Marcanda vineyards in Tuscany is always highly rated by the critics and the 2017 is no exception.
It's a true Super Tuscan blend; with merlot dominating, backed up with syrah and around 10% sangiovese which is aged for a year in 2nd and 3rd fill oak barriques with further aging in bottle in the estate's cellars.

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
