"The plushest and easiest to drink of the multiple Mayard cuvées is the 2016 Châteauneuf du Pape Clos du Calvaire (Le Hurlevent for the export market). A blend of 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, it's full-bodied and creamy textured, with loads of blueberry and cherry fruit, hints of garrigue and a long finish. It should drink well for a decade or more." Drink 2018-2030.

2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe
"The flagship wine, the 2015 Châteauneuf du Pape, is a blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and 5% other permitted varieties. It features delicate floral scents and ample cherry and licorice aromas. Somehow, it manages to be full-bodied and almost creamy in texture but without much weight, then it ends powerfully, with a flourish of rich Mexican chocolate on the long, silky finish. It should drink well for up to 20 years."

2015 Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Font de Joubert
The Charrier family owns a nice vineyard in Courthezon. They sold their grapes to the cooperative for a long time, then Caroline and her father built a cellar and began to vinify in the early 2000. Frédéric, Carolines brother is in charge of the vineyard. Five plots, mainly on sandy soils, one of them is 3.5 hectares in the mythical Rayas, the other in La Guigasse, le Pointu, Chapelle Saint-Georges and la Crau-est. Some of the vines are one hundred years old and co-planted (with all authorized grape varieties including white wines), with grenache the main grape variety at 90%.
An utterly compelling Châteauneuf that will be delicious within 2-3 years - with a further 10 ahead of it. A very ‘showy’ example from the 2015 vintage – generous and forward in style with dried fruits, plums and herbs in a forward drinking style. Really brilliant and one of our finds from such a great year.

Where possible, we will use the existing packaging the wine is shipped to us in from the producer. If we feel this is unfit, we will re-pack in a Mr.Wheeler branded, recyclable cardboard carton.
