2021 Estate Reserve Chardonnay, Glenelly Estate, Stellenbosch
Established by May de Lencquesaing (formerly of Château Pichon Longville Comtesse de Lalande fame) and on terroir nestled in an amphitheatre setting in the foothills of Simonsberg Mountain where east-facing vines, planted on ancient, decomposed granite (and some of the oldest soils in the world) benefit from a unique diversity of microclimates.
"Opening with aromas of lime candy, pear drop and sweet citrus, the 2020 Estate Reserve Chardonnay offers vibrant and lively tones of pineapple and pomelo on the nose. Medium-bodied, the palate remains fresh and zippy before ending with succulent acidity that lingers on to the finish. Its a delightful, food-friendly wine."

Established in South Africas Hemel-en-Aarde valley in 1989 and a ground-breaking partnership between acclaimed Burgundian winemaker Paul Bouchard and trailblazing local winemaker Peter Finlayson that specialises in chardonnay and pinot noir.
"The 2020 Bouchard Finlayson Crocodiles Lair Chardonnay from the sweet spot that is the Elandskloof Valley, tucked away in the Overberg Mountains of South Africa, is sleek and elegant. Thanks to the cool temperatures at 700m, fruit here ripens a month later than other Cape Chardonnays and the result is smooth, supple and restrained. Theres a touch of lemon curd plus apricot and a hint of honeyed toast on the long, satisfying finish."
