Henschke is a famous name known around the wine world and recognised as arguably the greatest family-owned wine producer in Australia. The Henschke family have been undeniably closely linked with the Wheeler family since the mid-1980s when my father Richard and I first visited them. I was living in Australia at that time and had become an enthusiastic consumer and delighted by their consistent quality and enticing style and indeed how accessible the wines were in Sydneys North Shore suburbs.

Together, my father and I made an extensive tour of the family wineries that I had researched to be the best in the country and I remember well the look on his face as we tasted with Stephen & Prue Henschke for the first time. We had made our visit at a good moment as Australian wine was at long last becoming fashionable in Britain and when Stephen offered us the opportunity to become the UK Sole Importer we were delighted to accept. For more than 20 years we exclusively played an important role in introducing the Henschke range of delicious wines to discerning consumers nationwide.

After such a history Mr.Wheeler is delighted to offer a range of new releases from Henschke which we believe offer a rare glimpse into this legendary estate.

In this mixed case you will receive one bottle each of the following wines;

2017 'Louis' Semillon, Henschke, Eden Valley
"The crisp, lemony 2017 Louis Semillon weighs in at only 11.5% alcohol, pretty typical for this bottling, which is meant to be age-worthy. Like Hunter Valley versions, it can be consumed young, with oysters or other shellfish, or aged 10 years or so to attain greater dimension. Scents of citrus zest and crushed stone appear on the nose, while the light-bodied palate is streamlined and refreshing, with a long, mouthwatering finish. 2020-2030."

2017 'Tilly's Vineyard', Henschke, Eden Valley/Adelaide Hills
An aromatic blend of 55% Semillon, 22% Sauvignon Blanc, 12% Pinot Gris, 6% Chardonnay and 5% Riesling grown in the Eden Valley and Henschke Lenswood vineyard in the Adelaide Hills wine region. Beautifully perfumed aromas of clover blossom, gooseberry and stone fruit are complemented by hints of lemon peel, melon and tropical fruits.

2018 'Croft' Chardonnay, Henschke, Adelaide Hills
"Subtle shadings of toasted grain accent pineapple and white nectarines in the 2018 Croft Chardonnay. All barrel fermented (typically in around 15% new oak), this is a medium to full-bodied, plump, generous wine in the mouth, with a fine, silky texture and lingering suggestions of pencil shavings and citrus on the finish. It should drink well for at least another five years, and possibly longer. 2020-2025."

2018 'Henrys Seven', Henschke, Barossa Valley
"A blend of 67% Shiraz (co-fermented with 6% Viognier), 17% Grenache and 10% Mataro, the 2018 Henry's Seven boasts aromas of boysenberries and blueberries. plus hints of dried spices. Matured in 5% new and 95% seasoned French hogsheads for nine months prior to blending and bottling, oak is a minor element, with the fruit flavors coming through loud and clear on the medium to full-bodied palate. It's supple and easy to drink, with a hint of stone fruit on the long and softly dusty finish. 2020-2025."

2017 'Johanns Garden', Henschke, Barossa Valley
"The 2017 Johann's Garden is a blend of 76% Grenache, 18% Mataro and 6% Shiraz, aged in used French oak hogsheads. Sandalwood, cherries and exotic spices appear on the nose of this full-bodied, opulent offering. It's creamy and mouthfilling without seeming heavy or overdone, remaining fresh and lively through the lingering finish that picks up hints of star anise and ground pepper. 2020-2025"

2015 'Keyneton Euphonium', Henschke, Barossa Valley
"With its blend of 66% Shiraz, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 Keyneton Euphonium is a more structured Syrah-based blend than the Henry's Seven. Less generous young, it promises at least a decade of cellaring potential. Hints of cedar and green-edged tobacco appear on the nose, alongside scents of cassis, mocha and pristine earthy notes of clean compost. It's medium to full-bodied, with tannins that are both silky and firm providing focus and length. 2020-2030."
