Margaux 2022
Saint-Émilion 2021
"A very open, expressive style of Saint-Émilion. Bright ruby in colour with warm red fruits to the fore ripe cherry, damson and wild strawberry, along with a subtle, spicy woodsmoke note. Very fresh, warm and easy-going with an almost sweet, fruit coulis edge to the intense red fruit character. Luscious, and almost crunchy in texture with soft, very well-balanced tannins. A very friendly, and highly drinkable style. (Feels like quite a splash of cabernet franc here)."
Saint-Julien 2021
"Another very pretty, expressive 2021 with pronounced blackberry and plum aromas and an underlying green-leaf freshness. Positively glowing, with attractive perfume, warm, sweetish autumn-berry intensity and subtle herbaceous notes. A little more merlot here than the other medoc appellations- with luscious texture and no hard edges. Finishes with a dash of smoky spice and appealing chewy richness."
Saint-Estèphe 2020
"Saint-Estèphe is Bordeauxs cabernet heartland, and the hallmark cassis, cigar box and cedar aromas shine though here. Also evident is the warmth of the 2020 vintage, with ripe, supple black berry fruit flavours, firm grip and leafy, herbaceous notes. Quite a serious claret, with very classical styling. Rich, powerful and impressive."
Declassified Sauternes 2016
From one of the greatest sweet wine châteaux of them all. Complex with exotic fruit and citrus flavours, round and well balanced with along and lingering finish that shows off its immense pedigree.
"As with many top wines of the region that year, this is light and delicate rather than rich and unctuous. There's plenty of delectable honeyed sweetness, though, and so refreshing and lively is it that would it not suit the thirstiest athletic oaf, uh? I love it and served it the other night alongside a simple homemade pear almondine and both went down a storm." Jonathan Ray, The Spectator Magazine
