Fine Wine Latest Releases
2016 Almaviva
Almaviva, the Chateau Mouton-Rothschild and Concha y Toro collaboration in Chile’s Puente Alto commune is a cuvee offering stunning depth and precision. Drawing in Mouton’s wine making know-how whilst capitalising on Concha Y Toro’s supreme vineyard holdings, it is a wine which talks so eloquently of its noble Chilean heritage, yet speaks with an inescapable Bordelais accent. In the context of star Chilean wines, Almaviva sits comfortably in the very top tier of wines produced, alongside the noble names of Seña, Viñedo Chadwick and Clos Apalta.
Produced by Michel Friou (with the benefit of the combined winemaking experience of the teams at Mouton-Rothschild and Opus One) predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with Carmenere, Cabernet Franc and a little Petit Verdot, Alamaviva is recognised for its expressive density of cassis fruit, but equally for the wine’s underlying finesse and elegance. It is a classic example of power with control, together with density and lightness of touch. It is, simply, remarkable.
One of the right bank superstars from Château Figeac.
The Figeac style is one of stunning, classic aromatics, impressive structure, power and length. In Right Bank terms this high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon stands alone, creating a wine which speaks of the Classed Growths of Bordeauxs Left bank, yet conversely the Merlot the region is so famous for lends velvety texture, a round and mouth-filling mid-palate with notes of spice and plummy fruit.
A notable inclusion of Cabernet Franc enhances the aromatic complexity and renders the assemblage completely unique in the region. Figeac is, simply, one of Bordeauxs most singular and inspirational Chateaux.
Ornellaia Wines
Along with just a handful of other truly exceptional Tuscan estates, Tenuta dell'Ornellaia makes a rightful claim to being the greatest wine estate in Italy. Along with Sassicaia it is sited in the Bolgheri sub-region and together with it’s super rare pure merlot cuvee; Masseto, is considered amongst the world’s truly great wines.
Few Cabernet Sauvignon led blends from outside Bordeaux achieve the same praise and worldwide recognition as those of Tenuta dell’Ornellaia. Moreover, the 2015 release, which marks the estate’s 30th vintage anniversary, could become its most lauded vintage to date…
As part of Tenuta dell ‘Ornellaia’s latest release, we are delighted to include the sensational and very well priced second wine of Ornellaia; Le Serre Nuove also from the 2015 vintage. Also included for the first time is their brilliantly accessible and focused third wine, the 2016 Le Volte. Secure your Ornellaia wines with our exclusive offer. In this exclusive parcel, you will receive 6 bottles each of the wines featured.
2016 Occultum Lapidem
Chapoutier’s latest release of Occultum Lapidem is a wine of immense stature - certainly impressive but also highly enjoyable. This is clearly a particularly good vintage for the Bila-Haut estate – we have been enjoying the ‘everyday’ Roussillon for sometime, but the Occultum Lapidem, made from 60 year-old vines is a significant step up, and has received an impressive 93-95 points from southern-France specialist Jeb Dunnuck.

2004 R.D. Bollinger
A name synonymous with the very highest in quality and a heritage which stretches back to 1829; Champagne Bollinger is one of the greatest, most consistent and iconic producers in this most desirable of appellations.
Bollinger’s star cuvée really is something special. Originally created by Madame Bollinger as a way of presenting her favourite wines in the most pristine and fresh manor to her friends and family; Bollinger R.D. now refers to the most “Recently Disgorged” vintage release from the estate.
This year, the brilliant 2004 vintage has been earmarked for release and has already received glowing reviews. Remaining on it’s lees, stored under cork in Bollinger’s extensive cellars in Ay for 14 years; now is the time for disgorgment and release onto the world market. Production is small, demand is high. In fact, such is the demand from Bollinger to ensure freshness is maintained in every bottle, that they only release enough stock to full-fill confirmed orders from merchants around the world. As such, there is rarely ay oversupply, which often translates into a tightening of worldwide stock, forcing secondary market trading and an inevitable increase in market value.

Chateau Latour - The Review
Having taken the decision in recent years to withdraw from the En Primeur system, the Château takes the view each year to offer into the market a pair of wines from its cellars in Pauillac, which they believe represent an approachable and eminently drinkable vintage of both Latour itself and its second label; Les Forts de Latour.
For 2018 the Château has elected 2006 Château Latour and the never-before released 2012 Les Forts de Latour. With proven pedigree across centuries of wine making, Château Latour offers one of the most captivating expressions of Cabernet Sauvignon-led wines on earth, its terroir being one of the most complex and detailed anywhere in the world.
Even the second label, Les Forts de Latour is sourced from specific plots within the estate, making it a cuvée in its own right rather than simply a second selection of grapes. To conclude, this is a wonderful opportunity to purchase some of Bordeaux’s greatest wines, offered here with unparalleled provenance.
Stock is limited and demand, especially for the inaugural release of 2012 Les Forts de Latour, is likely to be high. As such, an early indication of your interest is highly recommended.
Sassicaia & The 'Super Tuscans'
Without question Sassicaia represents one of the world's very greatest wines. From its inception in the 1960s when Tenuta San Guido bucked Italian wine law by planting Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in traditionally Sangiovese territory to create this, the very first “Super Tuscan” red, it has become one of the most recognised and coveted wines available in the world market.
Representing ‘First Growth’ quality and status, Sassicaia rarely misses a beat. Of the legendary 1985 vintage, Robert Parker famously said that it “may be the best wine he tasted in his 38 years as a wine critic”. Praise indeed, and the merest hint of the potential each new release is met with around the world.
